This time in two weeks we will be finished with Lads to Leaders 2009. The kids have worked hard throughout the year in various events (and still working on some finishing touches this week). Kyle is participating in song leading this year and Kaitlyn is doing 7 events. Yesterday morning during class the kids went into the adult classes to practice. Here are the boys and girls that were there yesterday (this was the second week for them to practice in classes).
Then we went to Luke's house for the afternoon. We had bought some kites at Wal-mart a while back and it seemed like the perfect day to fly them.
Kaitlyn rigged her kite to the pool ladder so that it would fly by itself. You can kinda tell in the picture.
Then they were off to play with something else. Kyle rode the scooter, he got about half way down the driveway and was distracted by some dirt and rocks, he is such a boy!
Kyle was also helping Uncle Luke put his new umbrella for the patio furniture together, Luke went out to clean the table off. This of course involved the water hose and Kyle claims Luke got him wet. Kyle didn't like wearing wet clothes so the next thing I know he went to the car to look for some extra clothes. He could only find some of John's clothes so he put those on and came inside and asked me if I would zip up the pants. I said what are you wearing, he laughed and said Daddy's clothes, mine were wet!

Impromptu photo shoot
It was a pretty day yesterday so I told the kids we would go get some dinner and go to the park to play. I decided to take my camera and changed Kyle's shirt real quick. I took several pictures of them posed and while they were playing. This is what my friend Amy calls playing photo shoot, her favorite game! It is becoming my favorite game too.
I only got one decent one of them together.

I took a total of 31 pictures, I uploaded all of those to my facebook page, even the bad ones if you want to see them all.

80's party
Lora and Susan turned 30 and they had an 80's theme party at Cafe Ole to celebrate. Luke, Susan, Ben and I ventured down there to help them celebrate.
Me and Ben (he was not happy with me for taking this photo)
Ben proposing to Denise
This is one of my favorite pics of the night, Lora trying to get Ben to come dance, it wasn't working, this is a typical Ben look:
I will put the rest on Facebook later and don't worry Ben, I will email you the other ones I know you want.

Spring break roundup
We did not do a whole lot over spring break, mostly just slept in. On Monday Kaitlyn and I went to Archiver's to scrap. She got 10 pages done for her L2L scrapbook.
Tuesday we didn't go anywhere. Wednesday we went to Stevie B's for lunch and then bowling.
They also put their swimsuits on and "helped" John wash the car.
Wednesday night after church Kaitlyn and Kyle went to spend the night with John's parents and I picked them up at Kaitlyn's softball practice the next day. Friday we went to see Bolt at the movie theater.

Out of the blue clear sky
I took these pictures of Kaitlyn and Kyle today. Making them pose when they would rather be playing is like trying to perform brain surgery on a cat who has had no anesthetic. They were "helping" John wash the car. I am not sure it is warm enough for bathing suits (which is what they are wearing) but it is certainly the prettiest day so far this year.

L2L practice
Kyle went to practice leading his song today and pitched a fit for me to stay. I took advantage of the situation and videoed him. He did start off saying "please join me in singing Jesus Loves Me, number 1014", I just hadn't pressed the button on the camera yet.
(and apparently I need help in holding a camera still, sorry)

first softball practice
Kaitlyn is playing softball again this year. They had their first practice today and the weather was perfect for it.
And while they were practicing there were two bunnies on one of the other fields. We are not sure why they were there but they sure were cute and didn't run off when you walked up to them.

Our Snowgirl
Kaitlyn had been wanting to build a snowman since it started snowing on Saturday. Sunday morning when we went out to play the snow was too powdery and she couldn't get it to stick together. But yesterday afternoon the snow had already started to melt so it stuck together pretty good. We built the bottom and she got frustrated with the top. I went inside but she was determined to make it work. I brought her a pink scarf and hat then we used a film canister for the eyes and nose and sticks for the arms. We couldn't find anything for the mouth so Kaitlyn just drew it with her finger.
