Pop's Fossil

It is funny to me how much kids actually pick up on. My Dad died 5 years this past June. Kaitlyn was only 3 and I was pregnant with Kyle so he wasn't even born yet. They had never been out to his grave and truth be told I don't go out there as much I should. So the other day Kaitlyn asks me if we can go see Pop's fossil. I was really confused and she was trying to explain it to me. It took her a minute but I finally got. I have no idea where she got to call it a fossil nor do I know how she knew people even have gravestones. So I told her we would go see it one day this week. Then she says "and we need to take some flowers too". Again I do not know how she knew that you put flowers on the stone either. So we stopped at Kroger and bought some flowers and I showed them where the "fossil" is and they put the flowers down. Might be a little morbid but of course I took a picture.

Last Swim Hooray

We went to swim at the Paulo's today. We did not get to go very much this year due to John's schedule (it has really messed me up this summer, but that is another post) but we really enjoy our time there. We went a little later than normal and then even ordered pizza for dinner. I got a little sunburnt but it was worth it.

Here is Kyle in the spidey gear. He loves this stuff and thanks to Lucas for sharing his toys while we are there. You know it is always cooler to play with someone else's stuff.

And here is a pic of all kids minus Kyle. Whenever we are all together we try and get a kid picture. Kyle never wants to be a part of it. I told him one day he will look back at all these photos and ask why he wasn't there. This will be the reminder of how stubborn he is.

Photo Shoot

Here are some pictures of both of my kids and below are some of just Kyle and just Kaitlyn. They do not cooperate very well together but do okay on their own. If they would quit trying so hard to smile and just be natural it would work much better.

Just pick one already

I took Kaitlyn to Target on Wednesday so she could pick out a backpack. This is such a big deal to her. She loves buying her new school supplies (I know, she gets it honest) but the backpack and 1st day of school outfit are the most important. She found some shorts and shirt that she wanted and I wasn't going to buy it but she said she wanted to wear it the first day so I said okay. Got that out of the way. We get back to the backpacks and she spent at least 20 minutes trying to decide which one she wanted. First she couldn't decide if she wanted a backpack or a messenger style bag. She decided on backpack then had to pick which one she wanted. She tried them all on. And finally picked this one:

Then we get it home and the zipper doesn't work. So I took it back today and exchanged it. Would not have been my choice and I can't believe she didn't want the pink or purple Hannah Montana one but at least it is done and she is happy.

It's all Kelley's fault

So Kelley and I went to get some groceries on Saturday and take them down to the FIT house. John was working so I had both Kaitlyn and Kyle with me. Kaitlyn pushed Will around in the stroller while I pushed the basket and Kelley and Kyle got the groceries. When we were all in the car Kelley tells Kaitlyn that she appreciates her pushing Will around for her. Kaitlyn says she liked doing it. Then she pauses for a few minutes and says "Mom, I think you need to have us another brother or sister". It is a good thing I wasn't driving because I probably would have wrecked. (For those of you who don't know me, I do not wish to have any more children, my two are more than enough, even though I am probably ginksing myself for saying that). I said "Kaitlyn, we are not having any more babies" She says "well I would feed it and take care of it so you wouldn't have to do anything" Yeah, if it were only that easy. Then tonight while we were eating dinner both of my kids bring it up again. I need a way to get this idea out of their minds and quick!

Softball party

Tonight we went to Ms. Frieda's house for the end of season softball party. We had hot dogs, chips, and cake. They all got trophies for playing and then watched a DVD of pictures from the season made by Shelley (Amanda's mom). Thanks to Shelley for doing that, it is really cool. After the DVD it was time for swimming. The girls were so anxious to get in the pool. They ended up just waiting in line to jump off the diving board almost the whole time.

Then the "big boys" decided to jump in too and try and splash all the moms on the side. Who can make the biggest splash? It was a toss up.

School Supplies sale

I went to Target tonight to get a wireless mouse they had advertised for $19 (and it is pink too!). So I wonder back to the school supply area. I live for the Sunday paper in July when they begin to put the school supplies on sale. This weeks advertisement did not have very many things on sale yet but I figured I at least needed the book covers that were 2 for $1. Well much to my surprise they had many of their supplies already on sale. The markers were 89 cents. This was NOT in the paper because I look for that every July. I always stock up on markers. So my trip to Target for a $19 mouse turned into an hour $92 trip.

The next American Idol

That would be Kyle, or so he thinks. I bought them the High School Musical Sing It game for the PS2, it is played very much like the American Idol game. We played it a little and then battled it out at the AI game again. Lora always wins. Kyle sings Walking on Sunshine. He only knows the chorus but it is hilarious.

(I don't know how to turn the video sideways, anyone know?)

HB to Shane

I hate to post anything new because it will make the "boys" at the bottom move to another page, but for those interested just remember July 2, 2008 when you need a little pick me up.

Saturday was Shane's (my BIL) 30th birthday so today while out at Luke's we had a cookout and a cake. He only had two candles and only blew one out. You are getting old, aren't you.

Old Lady Happy Hour

This summer on Fridays at 11:00, I have been meeting up with a few of my Bolton teacher friends at Starbucks. We sit outside and just enjoy talking. Today I even stayed for almost 3 hours (even though it was 90+ degrees outside). They began this after deciding that they couldn't handle going to grab a beer after work on Fridays so they started going to Starbucks instead and then invited me. I was happy to be included. I told them it was like we were in high school and I got invited to go out with the cool people, ha! One of the ladies called it old lady happy hour, I said hey wait a minute. Oh well I guess it is another reason to add to the "I feel old" list.

It isn't that bad

Anytime you get embarrassed and think you have done something real dumb, remember this. At least your name is not Chase Sampson.

New Children

Does anyone know where I can rent new children for the summer? Mine are driving me bananas!!! They have given new meaning to the term sibling rivalry and drama queen.

Playing Uno

We went to my mom's house last night to eat dinner and afterwards the kids wanted to play some games. They got out Uno Stacko and regular Uno. Kyle really got into these games. Everyone got to win a round except for me.

New Pool

We went to eat lunch and then to the movies with my stepmom today. We saw Kung Fu Panda, it was better than I thought it would be. After the movie my stepmom came over and gave the kids a little blow up pool for them to play around in. We blew it up and the kids were in it before we could get it filled up.

Fireworks

Kaitlyn, Kyle and I decided to head over to my mom's house tonight to see if we could see the fireworks from Buckhead Creek. We could barely see them through two houses. Some were high enough for us to see pretty good but others were not.

Waiting for the fireworks to start.

A couple of shots of the fireworks. I used the fireworks setting on my camera. I am going to have to practice this one more (and have a better view of the fireworks)

Whose on your list?

This is for my scrapbooking friends (and yes I narrowed it down):

2. Josh Harnett (Pearl Harbor guy)
3. Adam Rodriguez (CSI:Miami guy)
4. Ryan Gosling (The Notebook guy)
5. Josh Lucas (Sweet Home Alabama guy)

(edited for you people who need to get with it, google them -- trust me, it is worth it!)

kiddie rides

This is the last St. Louis post I promise. Once we found the kiddie rides in the park we could hardly get Kyle to leave that area. He rode the rides over and over. He would get off the ride then walk around and get right back on. There were no lines for these rides so he was glad to keep riding. He rode these planes about 8 times. When we were at the water park he tired of the water and talked John into taking him back to the planes.

He even got a little brave and started riding with no hands!

While we were waiting on John, Kaitlyn, and Luke to ride The Boss, Kyle rode the carrousel 3 times.
