Trick or Treat

Kyle was sick today. John had to go get him from school. He laid around all day, coughing his lungs out. When it came time for us to go trick-or-treating I asked him if he was too sick to go. He of course said no. So we went to my mom's house, this is where we usually go for Halloween. Kyle did not want to wear his mask and Kaitlyn did not want to wear her wig. We went to about 7 houses and they both decided they were done and ready to go home. I mean what kind of kids are you anyway.

We then went to church for a short devotional service and then they had trick or treating outside with the left over candy from the fall festival. They have more candy than we could ever need.

Souja Boy Dancing

Kaitlyn is so proud of herself that she can do the dance to the Crank That Souja Boy song. I don't think proud is quite the word I would use for how I feel about that but it is entertaining. Here is a video of her somewhat doing the dance. Kyle even gets into it too but he really just jumps around.

Glorious Day

Today was our first worship service in our new auditorium. We had so many visitors. Kevin led the singing and the first song sung was "We have come into His House". All three of our ministers preached a little sermon. Stann Phipps (our youth minister) spoke first. He should really write a blog. He is the kind of preacher that tells you several funny things and is very animated. He really knows how to hold the audiences attention. Then at the end he ties it all together with something powerful. John Simpson was next. He is our traveling evangelist (or at least that is what he calls himself). He is one of those short, sweet and hard to beat preachers. I think he knows everything. I have never heard him debate but he would be very good at debating. He always leaves you with a provoking thought. His messages are always to the point. Last (but definitely not least) our main pulpit minister, Derek Williams, spoke. He is very knowledgeable. His thoughts are well organized and for those who take notes on the sermon, easy to take down notes and follow them. He does not sugar coat things but speaks the truth with great conviction. He wants all people to leave feeling spiritually filled.
We had several visitors today. We have anticipated this new building for quite some time. There is so much that we will be able to do know that we will not have to move chairs in the other building.
Here is a link to some photos of us in our new building (they are very posed as you can see)

Fall Festival

My kids were so excited today to go to our fall festival at church. They wore their costumes all day. I even took a Power Ranger to Wal-Mart (as opposed to just taking Kyle). Of course everyone stared at him and he says "why does everyone keep looking at me?"

Kaitlyn wanted to be Hannah Montana (along with every other little girl in the universe) and Kyle was the blue power ranger.

We decided last minute to go to this place in Bartlett called Once Upon a Time. They were having a little carnival type thing and it was free. The kids got to play some games and jump in the moon bounce. The only thing you had to pay for was the moon bounce and of course my kids wanted to get in that, even though we were going to the church building after that and they would have two that would be free. Oh well it was just a dollar. They also had several characters out. They were really cute and Kaitlyn wanted her picture taken with all the princesses. The princesses were very happy to take a photo and I was grateful. After all, it will make a cute scrapbook page.

Then I took Hannah Montana and my Power Ranger to the church for the fall festival. They got to trunk or treat and play some games. We won a cake doing the cake walk. I picked out a Reese's dessert bar that I thought had some M&M's on it. Upon closer inspection I discovered those weren't M's on the candy but S's. Who puts skittles with Reese's?

Thanks but no thanks

Last night Kaitlyn was saying her prayer. Now on Tuesday night she went on and on, thanking God for everything and everyone. But last night she says this "Thank you for the good sleep I am about to have, even though I don't want to go to bed and thank you for the rain, even though I don't like the thundering and lightening, Amen."

Then Kyle wanted to read books. He read to me and he wanted to read the book to me. Very entertaining! We had to read 5 books but I was waiting on the washing machine to go off so I could put the clothes in the dryer.

Hey Grandma

Tonight John and I wanted to go to Tops to eat so we stopped at McDonald's to get the kids something to eat. An older lady took the money at the window and Kyle yells out Hey Grandma. She took the money and shut her window, I don't know if she heard it or not but John and I could hardly contain ourselves. Kyle says that lady was a Grandma. I guess he thinks once you reach a certain age you must be a grandma.

And Kyle talked John into letting him stay home with him today. He told him his leg hurt and then limped around all day. I don't think his leg really hurts, I did see him run earlier. And it is slightly scary that he already figured out at the age of 4 that you can fake an illness and get to stay home with Daddy.

Our new building

The new church building is almost finished. Today was the last Sunday for worship in the gym, or Family Life Center as some say. The building was open today as they have cut out the connecting doors and are working on just having the frames. It is so nice and spacious. It is going to be decorated very nice too. We have jokingly gone in the new auditorium tonight to claim our spot. You know where you sit the first Sunday will be where you will sit from now on. Next Sunday will be wonderful, I can't wait.

Shaving Cream party

Kyle and I went to Noah's birthday party today. They started by painting pumpkins. Then Abbie got out some balloons she had filled with shaving cream and the kids threw them at each other and the ground. Then they figured out how to take the shaving cream cans and squirt them on each other, a natural progression of events if you have boys. This type of fun could have lasted them for hours. They played in the shaving cream for about 30 minutes. The parents had about as much fun laughing at them as they did playing in it and of course one of the dads got in on the fun also.

Kyle was the cleanest one as he did not get into the getting messy aspect as the other boys. He got mad when a couple of boys tried to squirt him.

We stuck around after the party for some chili. Noah, Lucas and Kyle played very well together, they usually do. Kyle was real good until the last about 15 minutes when it was time to clean up and leave. I guess that is somewhat expected though.

Yard sale

At the last minute I decided to have a yard sale today. I needed some extra money but more than that I need to get rid of some of this stuff in my house. I was a little worried at the beginning, we did not have very many 'customers' at first. From about 9:30 to 10:30 we had several people. I made $118. Not bad for a few hours of sitting outside and talking to your friend (Paula came over and did this with me).

I have also listed a couple of stamp sets on ebay. They are ending on Friday. We will see how they do. I think I could really get into this selling on ebay thing. A lot better than getting into buying things on ebay. :)

I once was lost but now I'm found

Yay! I found my phone. It was of course in the one place I had not looked: on my bed. I had not looked there because when I was looking there were people sleeping in my bed. So this afternoon I decided to call it one more time. I heard it vibrating and lo and behold there it was. It must have fallen out of my pocket last night when I was laying on the bed talking to my mom (on my home phone). Well at least that is one worry put to rest.

Ugghh, my phone

You know how when you lose something it takes over your life until you find it. Well that is what has happened to me last night. I had my cell phone in the car on the way home from church. Now it is nowhere to be found. I have searched everywhere. In the car, under the car, in the bathroom, in the kitchen, in the couch, in my purse, etc. Now you would think finding your phone would be easy, just call it and follow the ring. Well I still have it on vibrate from being at church. I called it hoping I would be able to see it light up, no such luck. This is all I can think about, it is driving me crazy. I have no idea where it could be but it has to be around here somewhere.

40 days of Thanksgiving

We began 40 days of Thanksgiving today at church. They had these devotional type books printed and gave one to everyone. The devotionals in them were even written by members of our church. It is neat to have a book to guide your daily devotionals and helps to to be reminded to actually have even a short daily devotional on your own time. This book can be downloaded from our church website if any of you would like a copy. The website is www.bartlettwoods.org and then click on the 40 days of Thanksgiving link.

Read with me

Kaitlyn and Aaliyah were reading to each other the other day. Kaitlyn would read a page and then Aaliyah would read a page. They were so cute.

Best deal ever

I am on a local message board for mommies where there is a buy-sell-trade board. Someone posted this basket for sale:

I about passed out when I saw it. This a the picnic basket from Longaberger. It retails for $126. I paid $10 for it. This is by far the best deal I have ever gotten.

keeping my niece and nephew

So I have the day off from work, I took my kids to school and was going to come back and clean up some things around my house. My sister-in-law wants me to keep my nephew. So I really can't say no even though I really wanted to. Here he is sleeping which is a rare thing for him so needless to say I did not get anything done that I had planned.

Then my niece joined him after she got out of school. Kaitlyn and Aaliyah are getting along better for longer periods of time. They are just like sisters, they love each other and love to play together but get to where they fight and argue. They were stamping and coloring here.

Where's the buzz?

Kyle had originally wanted to be a Transformer for Halloween. So I went to two different Targets last night to find the costume (I am still on the hunt for a Hannah Montana costume but that is a different post). At the Trinity Target they had one transformer costume left. I was appalled to see that it cost $29.99 but seeing as though this would be a difficult costume to find I bought it anyway. I made sure to put the receipt in the bag and I put the bag in the top of my closet.

So out of nowhere today Kyle says he wants to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween. Okay good so I could probably get that costume for a little cheaper. Then I pulled out the Toys R Us ad and they have their costumes for 50% off making them $14.99. I called Kyle over and showed him the picture and said "do you want to be Spiderman, a Power Ranger or a Ninja Turtle for Halloween?", thinking he would see the pictures and want to be one of those. He stared at it for a minute and then said "Well where's the buzz?

Sisters

One of my sister-in-laws got married today (or so I assume). She went off to Jamaica and got married. They left Wednesday and are coming back Monday so the actual wedding was to be today.

Here is a picture of us at her shower:
