Soccer Star

Kyle is becoming quite the little soccer player. He scored 3 goals at his game on Thursday night and 2 goals this morning (of course I have yet to capture one of these in picture). He is really enjoying playing. They took their team pictures this morning. Here is his team for Fall '08.

And here are some other action shots:

Bartlett Festival

Tonight we went to the Bartlett Festival. They have some booths, lots of fair type food, some carnival rides and best of all hot air balloons.

We went to this last year but John had to work so my stepmom went with us. This year John was off so he got to go. Kaitlyn did the bungee jump thing again. She loves this!

We got there about 5:45 (it was supposed to start around 6:00). I wanted to be up in the balloon when it was light outside. Well the balloons didn't start inflating until it was almost dark so my pictures aren't great. We all 4 rode the balloon. Kyle was a little scared this year, even though he rode fine last year.

We saw friends Amy, Scott and Ryan as well as Raymond, Paula, Abby, and Allie there.

Then we went back and rode some more rides.

down the hills

Tonight after Kyle's soccer game (which he scored 3 goals at) the parking lot got really congested. I despise that soccer field parking lot (the one on Bartlett Blvd.) anyway because it does get really congested as you are leaving. So we decided why bother to get in line and waste our $4 gallon gas and we just let the kids play for a minute while we waited. There is a huge hill (that one car just drove right up to avoid the traffic) and they would run to the top and the roll down. They thought it was hilarious, at least until we got home and they realized they were itching from rolling in the grass and probably getting bitten by chiggers.

Then while we waited I tried to play around with the settings on my camera. I am still not sure what to use when or what half of it means but I am planning to take a class n November (hopefully). Here are some of the different shots I got.

Visits with good friends

Abbie's husband Terrill had a business trip to Jackson, TN this week so Abbie and the kids tagged along. We met at Amy's house tonight for dinner and play. It was nice to just sit and relax and talk. Scott grilled burgers and hot dogs and Amy made some sides, we also enjoyed brownies and ice cream. The kids played really nicely together for the most part. You will see here them playing Lacrosse and Simon Says. They also used the tools to work on the swingset.

I actually didn't get any pictures of Noah (he is kinda in the two above but not really) but I got some pretty good pictures of Evan.

And a pretty good one of Abbie, Leah, and Elijah.

But I got a couple of really good photos (or so I think) of Kaitlyn and Kyle (of course I am kinds partial to these).

To all my Butt Cheeks

I received this email the other day from a friend and thought it was one of the funniest I have seen in a while. I hate all those sappy "I love you and you're my friend" emails. This email however explained that sentiment in a way I can appreciate.

Thought for the day...

Friends...

Friends are like butt cheeks.
Crap might separate them,
But they always come back together.

Send this to all your butt cheeks

Kyle's party

Kyle had his birthday party this morning at the Fire Museum of Memphis. We had never been there before but I had seen this on the website. First we played in the museum part. They had a couple of firetrucks, an ambulance, and a simulator type thing.

Then we went to the party room for cake and presents. His cake turned out really good and of course he loved all his gifts.

Delta Fair

We went to the delta fair yesterday. I won free tickets to get in from the radio but we still spent about $100, it was worth it though. The kids had a great time. We bought the kids wristbands so they could ride how ever much they wanted, that was smart and the way to go on that deal.

We watched the high school musical 2 performance.

Kaitlyn and John rode the monster truck. Kyle would not ride, I couldn't believe he didn't want to ride.

Then they rode lots of rides. Kyle's favorite was the "houses" that were like a maze. He would get through and just get right back on. He kept saying 'just one more time'. Kaitlyn was again fearless and would ride anything. She did ride a lot with Kyle too.

Then she also did the bungee jump. I have a video of this too but I will upload that tomorrow when I can upload faster at school.

The weather was really nice and it was not crowded at all. The kids didn't have to wait in line hardly at all for the rides. We got there about 10:30 and left about 2:30. Kyle says he can't wait for the fair to come back next year.

First soccer game

Kyle is playing soccer again this fall (he also played in the spring) and he had his first game. He is actually pretty good this year. In the spring he was just learning but this year he has picked up on a lot. John thinks we should get him a private coach. Seriously he is 5! I told him I might ask one of the kids at school on the soccer team if they wanted to meet me a park and play around and teach him some stuff. I am sure they would be delighted to make some extra cash for playing with a 5 yr. old. Anyway his team got demolished this morning. The green team they played were way better than our team. On this league most of the teams are pretty equal in ability but not this team. Every little player they had was good. John said they must have recruited them.

HSM on Ice

We went to see High School Musical the ice tour tonight. I took Aaliyah with me along with Kaitlyn and Kyle. And yes I am an idiot for taking 3 kids to the FedEx forum by myself (because I know you were thinking it). It was pretty entertaining and the forum seemed pretty empty. Kyle sang along almost the whole time and Kaitlyn and Aaliyah danced along.
