Cohen's birthday

We went out to Luke's yesterday to celebrate Cohen turning 2, his official birthday was Saturday. Lora got him a cupcake cake that was supposed to look like a farm, it didn't. Maybe I should submit it to cakewrecks. He had so much fun eating his cupcake. He fell and dropped the first one, icing went all over his arm.

The kids drove and rode around on the tractor.

And they played basketball and drew on the driveway with sidewalk chalk.

feeding the birds (at the zoo)

The zoo has a new exhibit. It is where the butterflies used to be but now they have birds. You can go in and the birds are just flying all around you, it is actually a little un-nerving. The zoo keeper will give you a stick with some food and you can try and catch the birds to feed them. Kyle and Kaitlyn loved this!

And here is a short video of them feeding the birds:

Zoo visit

My mom works for Methodist and they had employee night at the zoo so we all went for a visit to the zoo yesterday. I took lots of pictures, it was such a nice night.

Some of the animals:

We also went in the bird house and fed the birds, I took so many pictures there I think I will make that another post entirely. We rode some of the rides and Kaitlyn climbed the rock wall.

Then as we were leaving my kids begged to play in the water. I told them they could walk along the side but not get their clothes wet. Notice them holding their shorts up as high as they could get them. Most of the other kids were swimming in it.

A few more shots of the kids:

3rd grade Field day

I forgot to post about Kaitlyn's field day on Tuesday. My mom went to eat lunch with her and watch most of the activities. I went for a few minutes because she got really upset the day before thinking she wasn't going to have anybody there for her. I saw her do the races and the volleyball game in the gym.

feeding the ducks

We went to the Rockyford park yesterday to feed the ducks. We had a half loaf of bread, not nearly enough. Kaitlyn and Kyle thought this was great at first then the ducks/geese (whatever kind of animals they are) starting almost attacking them. Kaitlyn was running from them. It was hilarious! Then they played on the playground until church time.

Score at Wolf Camera

Many of the Wolf Camera stores are going out of business in Memphis. I missed the going out of business sale at the Bartlett location so I went to the Trinity location today. Most things were 70% off. Now they didn't have cameras or lenses left but they had several other things. I got all of this for just over $14, including the tax!

Those little camera bags were only a dollar, the little photo books were 25 cents. My most exciting purchase was a star filter. I have been wanting one of these for a while. They normally cost between $13-15, I only paid $2. The one I bought doesn't really go with my camera so I am going to have to rig something up to hold it on there but I really only wanted it for taking a picture of my Christmas tree so I will figure it out. Here is what the star filter does:

Now imagine that your Christmas lights are twinkling like that in your picture, SO COOL!!

Mother's day

John is fired as a picture taker and Kyle would not cooperate but here is our attempt at a photo of me and the kids. None of them turned out well. Plus Kaitlyn insisted on taking the photo by the tree and it was muddy, I was wearing heels so I was sinking in the ground. The one of me and Kaitlyn is okay. And I even trashed 2 of them. John was just snapping pictures.

First softball game

Kaitlyn finally played her first softball game of the season yesterday. We have had a couple of rain outs so far. They ended up in a tie, 10 to 10. The girls played really hard.

That gray fuzz on the picture is from the fence. I didn't have a good angle, we were sitting on the other side and Kaitlyn is left handed so I had to move around.
