Blowing away

Tonight it was so windy. We went to eat at Perkins (kids eat free Tuesdays). When we left it was 43, when we came back it was 33. The temperature had dropped 10 degrees in about an hour. Urr, Memphis weather. When we sat down at Perkins the lights across the street went out. I told our waitress we needed to order quick before the lights there went out. Kaitlyn says "they can just replace the light bulb when the lights go out". If only it were that easy. When we got home both of our neighbors had pieces of their fence down. There was a camero down the street with a trash can laying up against it. That guy is going to be so angry when he sees that.

Dancing kids

I have posted videos of my kid dancing before and here is another one. Riley took these with his cell phone the other day at Luke's house. If you listen close I think the song in the background is "These are my People" by Rodney Atkins.

And here is another of them dancing to "Low" by Flo Rida. They love this song.

I hope you all have a good laugh with these.

Surprise Leigh

Tonight I went to a surprise party for a friend who is turning 30. She was totally surprised. I am so glad we finally got to surprise her because she is always in on surprises for other people. Her dear husband came up with the idea and Wendy, Jennifer and Kathy (and maybe others) helped him pull it off. It was great! Here is some of us at the party:

Freezing

Today is one of those days that it is so cold you just want to come home, put your pajamas on, drink hot chocolate, get in the bed and watch a movie. And that is exactly what we did. There was a new disney channel movie on so we watched that and I am sure we will watch again tonight. John had to go to work early so me and the kids are just hanging out. I think I am about to make a few cards. It is cold cold cold!

Little Vampires

We went to Stevie B's (stebie d's as Kyle calls it) tonight for dinner. It was Bartlett Elementary school night. Kaitlyn comes home with a sticker on (which gets you two free tokens) all excited about going to eat there. Those teachers must really talk it up during the day. John despises this place. I am not sure why, the pizza is so good. They have a little game room there so we usually will spend a dollar to get 4 tokens to let them each play 2 games. It is worth the dollar to get the to sit and be good so they can play games. And they love them, anytime I can make them happy for a buck it is a good thing. They won a few tickets and cash them in for those not even worth $.10 toys. This time they both got vampire teeth. Kaitlyn's are purple and Kyle's are bright green. They looked hilarious trying to talk with these teeth in their mouth.

Master Bowler

We spent a lot of time at Luke's over the last couple of days. I got 8 cards made yesterday while there and on Saturday I spent all day at the church for craft day. I have lots of stuff to share over the next few days on my craft blog. But for today you need to know that I am a master virtual bowler. Thursday night I bowled a 177. Pretty impressive considering I have been averaging about 142. So last night we had another adult tournament. I made it to the final round by beating out Riley with a 143 and he had a 138 (had to make sure I pointed that one out). So it is John, Richard, Luke and me. I bowled a strike on the first round, woohoo me. Then another strike in the 2nd and 3rd rounds (I am on the phone with my mom and she says "well don't beat them too bad, you know what that does to men's egos). Okay no big deal I had bowled 3 strikes in a row before. Well I bowled 9 strikes in a row. On the tenth frame I knocked down 9, then had a spare, then knocked down 9 more. Final score 278!! Totally unheard of. By about the 5th or 6th frame we began to wonder (including myself) what was up. I mean really I wasn't doing anything differently than I normally do. Something must be rigged. But whether it was or not I had to take a picture of the final scoreboard. I hope you can see it. I smoked the boys!

With this ring

Kyle: mommy can I have this ring? (holding my black ring I recently got at Kohl's, for $4 btw, good deal)
Me: no put it down
Kyle: I need it to give to my friends
Me: why?
Kyle: so I can marry them
Me: who are you gonna marry?
Kyle: Tanesha
Me: oh
Kyle: so we need to go to Target to get a ring

What a deal

I went to Toys R Us this afternoon to return something that Kaitlyn had gotten for Christmas. When I walked in I noticed a sign that said Candy Canes .20 and wrapping paper .10. I asked the girl is this wrapping paper really 10 cents?!? She said yes. They had Cheetah Girl and High School Musical paper. I got 5 rolls of each. Well when I get to the counter to pay for them they rang up for 3 cents each. I got 10 rolls of wrapping paper for 30 cents. Now who can beat that?!?

Move Over Law

So yesterday I got pulled over. I thought to myself I wasn't speeding, I wasn't talking on my phone, and I am wearing my seatbelt -- what did I do? So I pulled over on the off ramp from 385 to Austin Peay. The officer says "Ma'am do you know why I pulled you over?" I said "no, I have no clue". He says "you weren't speeding", I thought to myself I know I wasn't smart alleck. He says "well in Tennessee we have a move over law" (I thought a move over what?). He continues "It says that if you see emergency vehicles on the side of the road you are to get over in the other lane." I thought I was not paying attention to what was on the side of the road. I am sure I have this confused look on my face because I was confused. Seriously, they can give you a ticket for that. He didn't (and I would have been really mad if he did) but he did take my license and write me a warning. So know the rest of you know -- the move over law -- it means move over.

Yesterday was a glum day anyway. I went back to work after 2 nice weeks off to hyper crazy teen-agers. I was so tired by the end of the day that I just wanted to crawl into bed. I got a headache about 6:00 and did go to bed about 6:30 then woke up at 9:30 and could not go back to sleep until about 12:30.

Over the break I had several things on my to-do list to do. I did clean out my pantry and refridgerator. I sorta cleaned out Kaitlyn's room -- I am still working on that.
I did redo my music playlist on this blog. And I made it shuffle so that it will play a different song each time you log on. That was for you Leigh.

Virtual Bowling

We went to Luke's today. He got a new game for the PS3 called virtual bowling. Apparently the playstation people have realized that the Wii is a big hit so they are creating some games that can be played with the controller and your motion (like the Wii). Anyway the kids tried it out and were so cute playing.

Then the adults had a tournament. I virtually lost by bowling a virtual 146, 148 and 140. However I am a much better virtual bowler than I am a real bowler (although I haven't real bowled in quite some time). This game is really fun, you can even download songs and create your own playlist to listen to while playing so we felt like we were in a real bowling alley (just minus all the smoke).

Incredible Pizza Company

We decided to try out a new fun pizza place that recently opened today as something fun to do with the kids before Christmas break is over. I have been looking forward to trying this place out since it opened. We went at about 2:15 thinking maybe we could beat the dinner crowd but be to late for the lunch crowd. Apparently there were other people who had the same idea. The buffet line was no that crowded but there were a ton of people there. It cost us a fortune to eat and play there, we spent about $60 total. The food was okay but I guess you don't really go to a place like this for the food. It was double your fun Thursdays so we bought a $25 card and they doubled it to $50. We have about $15 left on the card and we did not cash in our tickets so we will have to go back, even though John says he will not go back (but he is a sour apple about things like this).

The kids had a blast in the game area. They have a ton of arcade like games, mini-bowling, air hockey, go karts, glow in the dark putt-putt (which we did not play) and much more.

Kaitlyn really enjoyed driving the go-karts, she was barely tall enough to drive herself.

Kaitlyn and Kyle both played the bowling twice. Kyle was a lot better at it than I thought he would be.

you know you are getting old when

How did I ring in the new year? At home in my bed watching the ball drop with Kyle (yes he was still awake). John was working. And what is even more sad is that I was perfectly happy with these plans. Now one day I do want to be physically in Times Square to see that ball drop, crazy I know but that is on my list of things to do before I die.
Anyway Kyle is still asking to watch the countdown. He doesn't quite get fact that it only happens once a year. Of course he is still asking to watch the parade (referring to the Macy's Thanksgiving day parade), that only happens once a year too bud.

Here is a picture I took today. I guess this is Kyle's idea of scrapbooking.
